When did Light Asia begin hosting annual events?
Light Asia’s first event was in Paju, South Korea in 2013.
How long do the annual Light Asia events last?
Light Asia’s annual event usually last between 3-5 days.
How long does it take to prepare to host the annual event?
The Light Asia team spends 3-4 months preparing for the annual event.
What is the normal attendance numbers?
Light Asia anticipates between 50-70 students.
What happens during the Light Asia event?
During the event, designers and students are partnered into groups to collectively attend sessions to grasp understanding of the location, application of lighting, characteristics of the implemented design concepts, discuss possible improvements, and to understand the process of design and installation. After these meetings, sponsors work on lighting preparation. Then professional installers or electricians work on lighting installation with the assistance of students under the supervision of the group designers. On the last day, presentation of the design concepts are conducted for review and feedback.

The location and date for the next annual event will be posted on Light Asia’s website.
What is the cost to attend the event?
There are no fees to attend the festival itself. However, personal expenses such as food, travel, and hotel reservations are the sole responsibility of the student.
Are there any pre-requisites that students must meet in order to be eligible to attend?
Light Asia festival invitations come directly from students’ educational institution. Any pre-requisites are mandated by universities and should be addressed with university administration.
Would you accept students from outside the host country?
At this time Light Asia is only accepting students from local colleges and universities. However, as Light Asia grows over time, this may change to include accept international students from universities and colleges out of the hosting country.
